Brahms – Schumann: Simon Peguiron & Guy Bovet at the Walcker Organ of the Collegiate Church of Neuchâtel The instrument: The organ of the Collegiate Church of Neuchâtel dates from 1870 and was built, as part of the restoration of the building under the responsibility of the architect Léo Châtelain, by the famous faculty organ maker Eberhard Friedrich Walcker (1794-1872), author of 274 organs worldwide (including 17 in Switzerland). The firm still exists and has more than 3000 instruments to its credit. Nowadays, only eight Walcker organs of this style remain, intact or restored, six of them in Germany and two in Switzerland (Baulmes, near Orbe VD, and Neuchâtel).
