In 1968, Ramsey Lewis embarked on a Japanese tour with his trio – featuring Cleveland Eaton on bass and Maurice White on drums (also a vocalist, White would later be a founding member of the group Earth, Wind & Fire). Two concerts were recorded and appear here for the first time on a single set (the second concert is also presented here for the first time ever on CD). The progam contains a combination of well-known jazz and blues standards, bossa nova tunes, original compositions, and pop novelties, including Lewis’ hit “The ‘in’ Crowd”, which opened the first show. (The single of his studio version of that tune reached #5 on the pop charts, and the studio album that contained it climbed to #2.) Two further live trio performances have been added as a bonus. (The first was taped at Basin Street West in San Francisco, and recorded with same personnel as the Japanese sets in 1967.)
