Four boys between the ages of ten and fifteen face the weekend of their lives. For the past few days, they've been listening intently to the radio news reports about a 12-year-old boy who has gone missing. Vern hears from his older brother that he saw the body at the edge of the railway line that runs through the woods. With the fame and glory that await them in mind, they set off along the railway line in search of the body. Reality takes on mythic forms during their exciting, moving, melancholic, and humorous search.
