The Little Prince is a French-language work, the best known of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Published in 1943 in New York simultaneously with its English translation, it is a poetic and philosophical tale under the guise of a children's tale. Language, simple and stripped, because it is intended to be understood by children, is in reality for the narrator the privileged vehicle of a symbolic conception of life. Each chapter recounts a meeting of the little prince who leaves him perplexed about the absurd behavior of the big people. Each of these encounters can be read as an allegory.
