Moniuszko: Verbum Nobile: Opera in One Act

Zunächst schien es, als hätte Moniuszko mit dem Einakter Verbum Nobile (1861) einen Volltreffer gelandet: Das Werk gefiel durch zündende, von der Volksmusik inspirierte Melodien und einen gefälligen idyllischen Stoff aus der guten alten Zeit der polnischen Adelsrepublik. Auch die Kritiken waren durchweg positiv. Doch Unruhen gegen die russischen Besatzer führten kurz nach der Premiere zum Kriegsrecht und zur Schließung der Theater, so dass das Werk keine Verbreitung fand. Fabio Biondi und Europa Galante legen hier einen weiteren Beweis für die Qualität dieser Musik vor.
