Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman is a charming, feminist Western with mythic overtones set in the 19th century. British actress Jane Seymour plays Michaela "Mike" Quinn, the fifth daughter of a wealthy Boston doctor who encouraged her to study medicine despite social obstacles. The headstrong Quinn moves to the wilds of Colorado Springs, where she opens a practice. She encounters fierce opposition from the townspeople and witnesses the brutal expansionism of white America. In true Western style, she trades a life of privilege for the hardships of a settler.
