De zestigjarige Francis zoekt in Venetië de rust om zijn nieuwste crime te schrijven. Wanneer hij op zoek gaat naar een appartement ontmoet hij de jonge en aantrekkelijke makelaar Judith. Voor Francis is het liefde op het eerste gezicht. Samen trekken ze in in een afgelegen huis op het eiland Torcello. Hij is zo gelukkig dat hij stopt met schrijven. Helaas maakt het geluk plaats voor wantrouwen en huurt hij de jonge Jérémie in om haar te achtervolgen.
