In dieser PASSACAILLE-Aufnahme erkundet der bekannte italienische Lautenist Luca Pianca in einem abwechslungsreichen Programm die immer wieder faszinierende Welt der französischen Musik des 17. Jahrhunderts. Er macht die Zuhörer mit dem unverwechselbaren raffinierten Musikstil des sog. "Grand Siècle" unter Ludwig XIV. bekannt, in dem Laute und Theorbe gemeinsam mit dem Cembalo und der Gambe tonangebend waren. Die zeitlose Eleganz dieser Kompositionen veranschaulicht hervorragend, wie prächtig es damals im 17. Jahrhundert um die Musiklandschaft in Frankreich bestellt war.
