Um die Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts setzte sich die neu entwickelte Einfachpedalharfe besonders in Paris rasend schnell durch. Jean Baur (1719-ca.1773) war einer der Virtuosen auf diesem Instrument, doch scheint er auch mit dem Violoncello bestens vertraut gewesen zu sein. Dies ist die erste Aufnahme, die ganz diesem faszinierenden und nahezu unbekannten Komponisten gewidmet ist. Zu hören sind dabei sowohl seine Musik für Violoncello als auch galante Salonmusik mit Harfe. Baurs Musik besticht durch ihren heiteren und fantasievollen Charakter und ausdrucksstarke Melodien.
