The Change Is Me

DOODSESKADER (Dutch for Death Squad) are Tim De Gieter (Amenra, Much Luv Studio) and Sigfried Burroughs (Kapitan Korsakov, Paard). In the three years of its existence, DOODSESKADER have tirelessly plunged the limits of Heavy. Their third album The Change Is Me is the unstable love child between Witch House, Hip-Hop, Industrial Dream Pop and Stadium Rock. Does it want to see the world burn or scream from the rooftops that we have to save it? Their combination of dingy 90s melodies with distorted synthesizers, muddy bass, hard-tuned vocals, rap, vocals and explosions of unadulterated anger about the current state of the world makes you wonder what exactly you smoked last night and whether it was too much or not enough. The Change Is Me marks the beginning of DOODSESKADER's shift into a more positive era, both musically and conceptually. Over the course of the 40-minute record, we hear the two friends unite in the fight against a world that is becoming increasingly disappointing, a concept that is crystal clear expressed in tracks like Celebrity Culture Simp Farm, It Keeps On Stinging and, of course, the epic conclusion of the album Suffering In Technicolor. While on their previous albums they tried to escape their past and arrive at a better version of themselves, there is no longer a search here for an outer or inner revelation that would make them better. In their place has taken the realization that change is not something we force: they take place gradually and, more importantly, it is something that is already there. We just have to go towards it and accept it. The live performances of the band in recent years have significantly shaped their ideology. On stage, the duo finds connection, not only with the audience, but also with each other. Their sold-out release shows at the Ancienne Belgique (2022) and VierNulVier (2024) have proven to be among Belgium's must-see acts.
