Meneer Septime leidt met ijzeren hand het beroemde Grand Restaurant "Chez Septime", een Parijse tempel van de Franse gastronomie waar de “klant” nog altijd “koning” is. Om deze status aan te houden, aarzelt Septime niet om zijn werknemers als vuil te behandelen bij de minste fout. Zijn leventje wordt echter verstoord door de afzetting van een Zuid-Amerikaans staatshoofd, waarbij hij beschuldigd wordt van medeplichtigheid.
