When Hugues sees Jeanne (Eve Lyne again), a ballet dancer, he is struck by her resemblance to his dead wife and he becomes obsessed with her, like he is with all the other objects he enshrined to his former wife. Jeanne develops feelings of sympathy and affection for Hugues, but is constantly put off by his rejection.
