Django Reinhardt passed away on May 16, 1953. 70 years on, Edouard Pennes (Tchavolo Schmitt, Paris Jazz Sessions, RP quartet) has come up with an original project to pay tribute to his music: revisit it with a string quartet and the most exciting soloists in Gypsy jazz today. This album is conceived as a tribute to an artist who left his mark on jazz history, but it's much more than a rehash. It's a reworking of a selection of titles by the great Gypsy, to celebrate him and his creativity.
