Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's first tour in then years ended with an emotional series of ten concerts at New York's famed Madison Square Garden. HBO received six Emmy nominations for their acclaimed film Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, which featured 14 performances form the last tow Garden shows. This special package includes the original HBO broadcast, as well as an additional 80-minute sequence of 11 songs never before shown. This deluxe home realease also includes a 15-minute featurette entitled "New York City Serenade", made up of behind-the-scenes interviews with Bruce and all the E Street Band members and additional unreleased concert footage. Nach 10-jähriger Unterbrechung kam es 1999 zur Wiedervereinigung der E Street Band. Bruce Springsteen und seine alten Mitstreiter verstanden sich freilich trotz der langen Pause immer noch hervorragend. Ihr Zusammenspiel klang gar vielseitiger, war gereift und entwickelte vor allem "in concert" noch mehr Power als früher -- wie eine 15-monatige Welttournee bewies. Am Ende der Konzertreise gastierte die Gruppe, zu der Keyboarder Roy Bittan, Saxofonist Clarence Clemons sowie die Gitarristen Nils Lofgren und Little Steven gehörten, zehn Tage hintereinander im ausverkauften "Madison Square Garden" in New York City. An den letzten beiden Abenden entstand dort ein Doppelalbum, das von den Kritikern in den höchsten Tönen gelobt wurde. Und auch ein Fernseh-Special für den US-Sender HBO hat man mitgeschnitten.

Diese Aufzeichnung vom Juli 2000 liegt nun auf Video und DVD vor und zeigt die reformierte US-Band in blendender Verfassung. Der Boss und seine Leute spielen hier Titel aus allen Phasen ihrer Laufbahn, vom Frühwerk "Lost In Flood" über den 1984er-Klassiker "Born In The U.S.A." bis zu den bis dato unveröffentlichten Tracks "Land Of Hope And Dreams" und "American Skin (41 Shots)". Natürlich standen auf dem Programmzettel auch unvergessene Stücke wie "Born To Run" und "Thunder Road", die in fulminanten Bühnenfassungen dargeboten wurden. Zudem präsentierten die Amerikaner bekannte Nummern wie "Youngstown", "The River" und "Mansion On The Hill" im veränderten, neuen Klanggewand.
