DESCRIZIONE
L'ARTISTA
Sorana began playing the piano age three, writing songs at eleven, formed and began performing with a rock band at fourteen and at sixteen was being managed by Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash. During this time she was also performing jazz with members of the same band and singing and improvising for the hip-hop DJ, Buddy Peace. These experiences earned her a place at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study Composition under contemporary music composer, Diana Burrell. There, Sorana led an orchestra playing her own songs and arrangements under the name K Project featuring Jules Buckley and Chris Wheeler (Heritage Orchestra). After graduation, Sorana formed a band with Dave de Rose (Moloko, Jamie Cullum), Simon Little (The Divine Comedy, Ben Folds) which disbanded when Sorana was signed by Jack Steven as Florence Welch s replacement in her breakthrough band, Ashok. In 2011 Sorana began releasing a solo EP every year, one of which included music from Tracy Keeling s play Pawnography at The Rose Theatre, Southbank.
