It is presented here as both Hessler's original director's cut and AIP's re-edited theatrical version. Madeline, the leading lady of a Parisian "grand guignol" theatre troupe, is haunted by visions of an axe-wielding maniac. When a member of her acting company is horribly murdered, she fears that more will follow.
