Through archive footage, interviews, performances and more, the film also explores the racism that plagued Oscar’s life despite his fame and success, and the racial implications of his public image and rise to stardom. This is the story of a true musical legend; an uncompromising musician with a sense of racial pride who throughout his career showed a commitment to mentoring a new generation of artists.
