Formed in 1969 by Daevid Allen, a founding member of Soft Machine, Gong quickly became one of the most unique, innovative, and experimental rock groups of the 70s. "I have a distinct feeling that Daevid Allen is one of the few true geniuses that have been thrown up by the rock media. a Dylan Thomas of another age," remarked Steve Turner in 1971.

Absurd, anarchic, and powerfully psychedelic, 'Camembert Electrique' is the second album by Gong. First released in France on BYG/Actuel in 1971 and later licensed to Richard Branson's fledgling Virgin label in the UK in 1974, this iconic and influential recording remains devastatingly fresh even in the 21st century. As described by All Music Guide, "This is a classic. Camembert Electrique remains undated," showcasing the weirdness, wisdom, and outré rock of the founding father of acid-rock, Daevid Allen.
