A war hero enters a crime syndicate in a film noir classic starring Dennis O'Keefe (Walk a Crooked Mile), Paul Stewart (Kiss Me Deadly), Allison Hayes (Attack of the 50 Foot Woman), and the real-life couple of singer Abbe Lane and bandleader Xavier Cugat. War veteran and accountant Barry Amsterdam (O'Keefe) is charged with investigating Arnie Valent (Stewart), a gang boss suspected of murdering a man who tried to expose him. Ansterdam soon becomes involved in a dangerous love triangle involving both Valent's glamorous girlfriend (Lane), and the mysterious, vengeful Joyce (Hayes).
