Doo-Wop has been called the forgotten third of Rock'N'Roll, but even a casual glance at the track-listing of this splendid 3LP Vinyl set will reassure listeners that they do indeed know many of the songs - some well enough to sing along to with all the vocal parts in place. Once a minority collector interest, Doo-Wop has since built up and maintained a place in our collective musical consciousness through exposure in films, T.V. and radio. While its comparative simplicity helped it become a welcome antidote to the much more contrived and often over-orchestrated music of subsequent decades. Our compilation certainly boasts all of the best-known songs. Early recognisable hits stand out by dint of their fine vocal performances, as the groups would spend considerable amounts of time honing their skills before venturing into the rudimentary studios where they recorded. Here you will find youthful enthusiasm and talent, shown at its best on these catchy and memorable songs.
