PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNGEN
It's been nearly 4 years since No Ghosts In This House, my last release. Paradoxically, many and no reasons why it's been so long - to quote John Lennon: 'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans'. I like to think of All Grown Up as a 'Blues' album, although no artist likes to be categorised or pigeonholed; given that it sometimes veers off the well-trodden path of the genre - my foundations are, and always have been, firmly rooted in Blues music. So, the time was right, for these songs to be set free and reveal their stories. All Grown Up; Sometimes You Need To Feel The Pain; Evil People; Easy; Nada Nada; I Hear Someone Crying are all Kris Dollimore originals with (mostly) self-explanatory titles concerning the content and subject matter of each song. Poor Boy and Wade In The Water are traditional country blues and gospel standards respectively, with a borrowed John Fahey guitar arrangement for one (Poor Boy) and adapted lyrics for the other (Wade In The Water). I dipped my toe, for the first time, into the Jazz world with my version of Django Reinhardt's Tears (Summer Rain). Gamblin' Bar Room Blues, originally written by Jimmie Rodgers in the early 1930s; brilliantly resurrected by the SAHB in the mid-1970s. My version is stripped to the bone with just voice and 12 string guitar, captured on an old walkman analogue cassette recorder. The album was made at my home and various other studios in Cornwall and Devon over the last 3 years. I toiled, laboured and scrutinised every sound and syllable on this record, to what end, who knows? It wasn't a great deal of fun to make; it's a bit like solitary confinement making a record entirely on your own. Now it's all over, I'm immensely proud, and of course, think it's my finest work to date. I delved so deep inside myself, that I'm left wondering who the hell is that, playing back through the speakers. Track listing: All Grown Up; Sometimes You Need To Feel The Pain; Evil People; Easy; Poor Boy (A Long Way From Home); Nada Nada; Gamblin' Bar Room Blues; Wade In The Water; Summer Rain; I Hear Someone Crying.
