In his first solo concert for television the Decca recording artist and UK Classic BRIT Award nominee Friar Alessandro Brustenghi performs in the glorious Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, the hilltop church that attracts some four million visitors a year to the burial place of St. Francis. One of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy, the Basilica is decorated with astonishingly beautiful medieval frescoes by Giotto that cover the entire interior of the upper sanctuary. The concert features sacred standards as well as crossover material that echoes Alessandro s spiritual message. Friar Alessandro is accompanied by the Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, conducted by Friar Giuseppi Magrino, the choir of the Basilica, and a children s choir, the Coro Aurora. Favourite songs from the Friar s beautiful performance include Panis Angelicus , Ave Maria, Here I Am, Lord and Gaelic Blessing.
