"Lions" wurde produziert von Chris Walla, in erster Linie bekannt als Gitarrist von Death Cab For Cutie, aber auch als Produzent von Tegan and Sara, The Decemberists oder The Postal Service. Das Album ist eine musikalische Reflektion der persönlichen Entwicklung und Neugestaltung in den Jahren nach dem 2011 erschienenen Vorgänger "Gold In The Shadows", die William Fitzsimmons in sehr persönlichen Interviews dieser Tage beschreibt. Ein intimes, inniges und intensives Werk.
