A group of death row inmates are offered a chance at redemption when they are selected to take part in a space mission to research the potential energy uses of black holes.

However, once on board their ship, it quickly becomes apparent they are embarking on a suicide mission.

As they drift through space towards their intended target, they are subjected to the sexual experiments of scientist Dr Dibs (Binoche), who becomes obsessed with the crew's only celibate member, Monte (Pattinson).
