Wendy and Lucy

From Kelly Reichardt, acclaimed director of Meek's Cutoff, First Cow and The Mastermind. Homeless and desperate, Wendy is driving with her dog Lucy to Alaska in hopes of a summer job in a cannery. When her car breaks down en route, the thin fabric of their situation comes apart, and Wendy is faced with a series of increasingly dire challenges. Reichardt's understated approach and Michelle Williams' stunning, heartbreaking performance paints a vivid portrait of a young woman's struggle to survive in a world indifferent to her plight. Simple and direct, Wendy and Lucy is a moving meditation on resilience and the often-overlooked struggles of those on the fringes of society.
