The first ever Czechoslovak film musical, Ladislav Rychman's sumptuous The Hop-Pickers was a sensation upon release. Its popularity has since endured for generations of Czech viewers with its sympathetic portrayal of youthful rebellion, romance, flamboyant production numbers, and catchy songs.
