Adolf Busch (1891-1952) wurde lange als einer der besten Violinisten der Geschichte und Anführer eines vorbildlichen Streichquartetts gefeiert, und wird langsam auch als bedeutender Komponist entdeckt, mit einem Stil, der dem seines guten Freundes Max Reger nahe kommt. Wie bei Reger, kombiniert Busch mühelosen Kontrapunkt, warme Harmonien, einen starken Sinn für Orchesterfarbe und ein Ohr für eine gute Melodie - als Zeuge der fünf Werke, die hier zu hören sind, vier davon in ihren ersten Aufnahmen und die andere in seiner ersten modernen Aufnahme.
