Borut Krzisnik: Music for the Film, 'A Life in Suitcases'

This CD contains the music from Borut Krzisnik's score for the new feature film and multi-media event by Peter Greenaway, due for release in 2006. Using the sound of a real orchestra in the digital domain to play and perform the music, and the resources of computer software in composition and production, Krzisnik has entered uncharted territory for symphonic music. Krzisnik (Slovenia) integrates avant-garde and popular music, 'academic' and 'underground' music. There are resonances of different musical idioms - postmodernism, modernism, traditional music, pop, techno, Stravinsky, Serbian brass bands - but ultimately Krzisnik creates a unique world of his own, at once familiar and strange.
