All six films from the Inner Sanctum series starring Lon Chaney in the lead role. In 'Calling Dr. Death' (1943) Dr. Mark Steele (Chaney) has a memory blank and cannot recall the events that resulted in his wife's death. In order to find out what really happened his nurse Stella Madden (Patricia Morison) hypnotises him. In 'Weird Woman' (1944) professor Norman Reed (Chaney), while on a South Seas trip, falls in love and marries a local woman (Anne Gwynne) raised on the island. However, he soon suspects that his bride may be using voodoo to diminish his enemies. In 'Dead Man's Eyes' (1944) when artist Dave Stuart (Chaney) is blinded, his only opportunity to regain his sight will require him to commit a heinous crime. 'The Frozen Ghost' (1945) is set in a wax museum where a newly arrived stage hypnotist (Chaney) with a shady past is one of many characters inhabiting the uncanny gallery. In 'Strange Confession' (1945) scientist Jeff Carter (Chaney) is developing a vaccine that he hopes will cure influenza. However, crooked businessman Roger Graham (J. Carrol Naish) undermines Carter by releasing the vaccine early hoping to cash in on its novelty. But with work still to be done Carter's professional career is on the line. Finally, in 'Pillow of Death' (1945) Wayne Fletcher (Chaney) is suspected of killing his wife following the revelation that he was unfaithful during their marriage.
