1935 entstanden in London mit der Tschechischen Philharmonie unter Vaclav Talich (1883-1961) bis heute legendäre Dvorák-Aufnahmen, darunter die vorliegende geradezu makellose 8. Sinfonie. 1938, kurz nach dem verhängnisvollen Münchner Abkommen, kehrten Dirigent und Orchester in die Abbey Road zurück, um dort u.a. eine der schönsten Talich-Aufnahmen, Josef Suks Serenade für Streicher, einzuspielen.
