Basil Rathbone stars as detective Sherlock Holmes in this adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic crime novel. Holmes is called in to investigate when Sir Charles Baskerville seemingly falls prey to the family curse: a hellhound which is said to haunt the moors of Devon and kill all Baskervilles. While he conducts his own investigation, Holmes opts to send his trusted colleague Doctor Watson (Nigel Bruce) to take up residence at Baskerville Hall with Sir Henry (Richard Greene), the last of the Baskervilles, in an attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery.
