William Petersen stars in this thriller directed by Michael Mann. Former FBI profiler Will Graham (Petersen), who specialised in catching serial killers, is brought out of early retirement to assist in the hunt for a killer known as the Tooth Fairy (Tom Noonan). Graham's tactic is to enter the mindset of the criminal he is pursuing but this takes a significant emotional toll. Meanwhile, he consults with former psychiatrist and serial killer Hannibal Lecktor (Brian Cox), who is now in prison and whose attack on Graham led to his previous retirement. When it becomes apparent that Lecktor and the Tooth Fairy have been in contact with each other, Graham realises that his family is in danger. The cast also includes Dennis Farina, Kim Greist and Joan Allen.
