Eccentric Los Angeles weatherman and roller skate enthusiast Harris Telemacher (Steve Martin, who also provides the script) is generally happy with his life, although his relationship with style-obsessed girlfriend Trudi (Marilu Henner) could be better. Then one day a message from a freeway sign changes Harris's life, as he begins to find himself attracted to eccentric English photographer Sara (Victoria Tennant - at the time Martin's wife in real life) while simultaneously embarking on a lighthearted romance with flirtatious younger woman SanDeE (Sarah Jessica Parker).
