First time on CD and in stereo for this 1960 original London cast recording of Cole Porter's Aladdin. Starring Britain's much loved performer Bob Monkhouse in the title role supported by Broadway's Doretta Morrow as the Princess. This is the first time the 1960 London cast recording of Aladdin has been made available on CD and in stereo. The Cole Porter score of this stage production was substantially different from what had been seen on the television production in the USA; the character of the Magician was removed and his numbers were reassigned (mostly to Aladdin); and the book diverged strongly from S.J. Perelman's teleplay, including the addition of the traditional pantomime character, Widow Twankey. Also added were several Porter songs from other shows, including 'There Must Be Someone for Me', 'Cherry Pies Ought to be You' and 'I Am Loved', and 'Ridin' High' that resulted in a highly enjoyable recording. To complement this recording we have included a studio cast recording of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella performed by West End stars Denis Quilley and Elizabeth Larner.
