The Mighty Celt

Irish drama, starring Gillian Anderson and Robert Carlyle. Young Donal (Tyrone Mckenna) lives with his single mother Kate (Anderson) in Belfast, and works after school at a greyhound trainer's to help make ends meet. The trainer (played by Ken Stott) agrees to let Donal keep one of the dogs if he can train him to win three successive races. At the same time, a mysterious figure from Kate's past, known only as 'O' (Carlyle) has returned, and as Donal gets closer to O, and as the dog trainer goes back on his deal, the young boy learns some harsh lessons about life.
