Mara Wilson and Martin Short star in this children's fantasy comedy directed by Michael Ritchie. When seven-year-old Anabel (Wilson) wishes that her father could win the lead role in a Broadway musical so that her family does not have to move to Nebraska, she is not expecting Murray (Short), a male fairy godmother, to appear in her life. Murray desperately wants to be taken seriously in a profession dominated by women and hopes that helping Anabel will improve his chances. After Claudia (Kathleen Turner), a former fairy godmother who has turned evil, steals all of the other fairy godmothers' wands, she just needs Murray's to become all-powerful. Can Anabel and Murray work together to put an end to Claudia's evil schemes?
