Siamo nella hollywood dell'epoca d'oro degli anni 50. eddie e' un "fixer", cioe' colui che deve tenere lontani dagli scandali le star che stanno lavorando ai film di un grande studio. Deve quindi far sparire foto ose' e cercare di camuffare gravidanz fuori dal matrimonio. quando poi accade che scompaia il protagonista di un film su gesu', nei panni di un centurione romano, la situazione si complica. Anche perche' costui e' stato rapito da un Gruppo di ferventi comunisti, che chiede 100,000 dollari o possono scordarsi la loro gallina dalle uova d'oro.
