Il Dottor Gru progetta di rubare la luna, che fin dall'infanzia stata al centro dei suoi desideri. Coadiuvato da un esercito di buffi esseri gialli, i minions, e da un anziano inventore, Gru dovr fare i conti con il rivale Vector. Entrano a far parte del suo piano tre orfane che adotta per poterle sfruttare. Le tre ragazzine tuttavia risveglieranno i suoi sentimenti pi puri.
