THE BATTLE OF KHE SANH Perhaps the most famous battle of the war, this program tells the story as 6000 defenders successfully repulsed 20,000 North Vietnamese troops from capturing a strategically important military base. A bloody and fiercely fought encounter, the fighting lasted 70 days and nights until the North Vietnamese slowly sunk back into the jungles they had emerged from. KHE SANH - VICTORY FOR AIR POWER While no one will deny the ferocity of the fighting on the ground during the Battle of Khe Sanh, another conflict was taking place in the skies above the besieged base. US air power played a fundamental role in supplying the base with essentials, evacuating the wounded and as a part of a strategic bombing plan that brought victory to the Americans. THE BATTLE Khe Sanh was but one battle in the Vietnam War and in this bonus program we examine the roles of the US Marines during other engagements including Operation Piranha, a four day search and destroy mission.
