Companion

Companion is a 2025 American science fiction horror film directed by Drew Hancock. The story follows young couple Iris and Josh, played by Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, who plan a relaxing weekend with friends at a luxurious, secluded lakeside villa. What begins as a cozy romantic getaway quickly devolves into a chaotic nightmare when one of the guests dies and Iris discovers a shocking secret about herself: someone in the party is a robot. From that moment on, the atmosphere shifts, and distrust, paranoia, and existential questions about identity take over. The film is praised for its original blend of genres, darkly comic undertones, and sharp satire of human relationships.
