Long before spin-offs of successful sitcoms became commonplace, the BBC and writer Johnny Speight would do it with In Sickness and in Health, bringing back the irascible Alf Garnet (Warren Mitchell) from Till Death Us Do Part for six series detailing the ups and downs (mostly downs!) of being a poverty-stricken pensioner in eighties Britain. Anti-hero Alf has much to moan about and the show spared no pains painting Alf as both a vulnerable, almost loveable character whilst holding his old fashioned views (even by eighties standards) to ridicule. All six series and five Christmas specials are here - following Alf from married to widowed, poor to rich and of course, in sickness and in health!
