The grubby headband and vest-wearing, permanently-sozzled Glaswegian street philosopher, Rab C Nesbitt, left an indelible skid mark on television history in one of the best-loved comedy series ever.

Over the years, Rab and his dysfunctional family – long-suffering wife Mary and children Gash and Burney – were joined by the likes of slippery best mate Jamesie and his other half Ella, to mine the humour of the Govan streets – a magical world of summonses, mutton pies and knocked-off giro cheques.

And, whether it was life, government, class or the price of swally, Rab was always ready to get something off his string-vested chest: his hilarious, sarcasm-laden rants and raves – “Let me tell you this, boy, let me tell you this.” – became legendary.
