In the late 1950s and early 1960s the Mod culture took Britain by storm, as teenagers up and down the country tuned in to the soulful sounds emanating from across the Atlantic ocean. The movement gathered pace and soon the Mod style could be seen everywhere, taking influences from Italian fashion, French film and, of course, the raw and authentic sound of rhythm & blues. For many, memories of the Mods centre around scooters, the RAF roundel and wellpublicised clashes with their arch rivals the Rockers in British seaside towns. But this was a subculture fuelled by the driving beat of American soul music and this incredible collection brings together 60 classic songs that together paint a picture of a time in music history that can never be repeated.
