NO&RD is a bit like the preserved treasure of Olivier Mellano & Régïs BoulaRD. Both always seem amazed by the results of their eruptive sessions. The first album only needed one day to be recorded, even though they had been talking about it for around ten years. The second album, eight years later, was done in three days. They respect this fertile fallow time, as a necessary distillation, like compressing a huge spring. Music, then, is the fruit of an urgent and serene euphoria, without qualms, nor inhibition or restraint. The effort is painless, anything that is not clear enough after attempts is completely turned upside down or has to disappear. This way of working finds its elucidation on stage : as the music, whether voluble, (very) energetic or totally stripped down is coming from afar, the two musicians have completely appropriated it. They can then embody all its facets with conviction, the conviction that they both put into offering a manifesto of freedom, joyful risk and generosity.
