This beautiful compilation disc creates an imaginary route between two far away cities on the very actual theme of exile. The road from Kabul to Bamako probably exists. Neither history books nor storybooks have kept track of adventurers, mages or merchants who once used it, and no river, no flight of migratory birds, no precious trade has drawn this path. In reality, what unites Kabul and Bamako is a series of stamps on a passport kept with a few crumpled certificates in a waterproof pocket; a chip that has frequented several mobile phones, a shifting geography of possible destinations that open and close in turn according to unreadable logic. Kabul-Bamako is not a road but a community of destinies. Kabul, Bamako, Khartoum, Damascus, Addis Ababa, Kampala, Tehran.
