My Stepmother Is an Alien

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Celeste (Kim Basinger) is an alien who has come to Earth to find a way of saving her own planet from destruction. Recently widowed scientist Steve Mills (Dan Aykroyd) falls madly in love with her, and after marrying her wants nothing more than to settle down to domestic bliss. However, a spanner is thrown in the works by Jessie, Steve's young daughter, who is extremely suspicious of her strange new mother.

REVIEW
The title pretty much says it all: a beauteous ET cosies up to an eccentric scientist (a disarmingly straight Dan Ackroyd) in an attempt to save her dying planet and falls in love in the process. Much wackiness ensues. Art it isn't, but this likeably lightweight film does deliver the laughs, with assured leading performances (for once, Kim Basinger's formica loveliness is utilised as an effective comedic asset), a surprisingly bawdy sense of humour and a riotous supporting turn by a then dewy-fresh Jon Lovitz. -- Andrew Wright, --This text refers to the VHS edition of this video
