Third outing for the Ubriacco family, only this time it is two dogs who get the voices, courtesy of Danny DeVito and Diane Keaton. When Mollie (Kirstie Alley) is fired from her job, she takes a position in the toy department as a Christmas elf. James (John Travolta) has taken a job as private pilot for the vampy Samantha (Lysette Anthony). When the local street dog is taken home for son Mikey, Samantha also turns up with her pampered poodle. The dogs take an instant dislike to each other, but the parents are too tied up with their own problems to notice. When she discovers that Samantha has whisked James off for a secret rendezvous on Christmas Eve, Mollie determines to intercept them with kids and dogs in tow.
