Matthew Broderick stars in this sci-fi thriller directed by John Badham. Young computer genius David Lightman (Broderick) hacks into what he believes is a new line of video games, not realising that it is in fact NORAD, the home of the American military's nuclear defence program. He inadvertently creates a hostile international situation, placing the world on the brink of nuclear war. Together with his girlfriend Jennifer (Ally Sheedy) and misanthropic computer expert Stephen Falken (John Wood), David must fight to prevent a global catastrophe.
