A Sky Original Little Birds

Little Birds is a fresh and subversive melodrama that springboards from the erotic vignettes of Anais Nin into the Tangier Interzone in 1955. Troubled New York heiress Lucy Savage (Juno Temple) is fresh off the transatlantic steamer anticipating love and marriage in exotic climes. But when her fiancée Hugo (Hugh Skinner) does not receive her in the way she expected, she spins off into a surprising, diverse and degenerate world. Period drama about an ingénue abroad this is not. Little Birds is very modern tale of a woman losing and then finding herself down a mesmerising rabbithole. What Lucy discovers is a world in flux, a country quivering on the cusp of independence, populated by a larger-than-life set of characters including a provocative dominatrix, Cherifa Lamor (Yumna Marwan) who particularly captures Lucy’s imagination. Inspired by each other the two women embark on a witty, moving and provocative journey towards freedom and independence.
