Maggie Smith and Timothy Bottom star in this sweet romantic comedy drama from Alan J. Pakula (Klute, The Parallax View). Walter Elbertson (Timothy Bottoms) is young, asthmatic and shy, lost within his family of overachievers. Englishwoman Lila Fisher (Maggie Smith) is awkward and emotionally repressed. The two of them meet on their respective holidays in Spain, and proximity gradually, nervously turns into a tremulous romantic attachment. They decide to leave their respective holiday tours and head off together, but then their fragile relationship is put to the test when they meet a Spanish Duke who is rather taken with Lila.
